BOONE Varieties

BOONE was released by North Carolina Agricultural Research Service. It is a short awned variety with early maturity and excellent yield potential. Unlike some awned types, this variety has brittle awns and threshes very easily. Boone has medium test weight, and fair straw strength. It has good leaf rust resistance and poor mildew resistance, but has produced good yields even where mildew was a major factor. Boone is susceptible to loose smut. Variety Producers
