EMERALD Varieties

EMERALD was released by the USDA and the Georgia Agricultural Station in 1955. It is a variety of Zoysia japonica with a dark green color, very fine leaf texture, good shade tolerance, high root density, and low growth habit. It has less winter hardiness but more shade tolerance than Meyer Zoysia. Internode length is 18-25 mm, has internode diameter of 2.5 - 3.5 mm and a leaf width of 1.9 - 2.1 mm. Variety Producers
