NC 37NF Varieties

NC 37NF was released by the North Carolina Agricultural Research Service in 1988. It was developed from a cross involving NC 82, Coker 319 and a Speight G-28 breeding line with the non-flowering character. It has low resistance to black shank and Granville wilt. NC 37NF is resistant to southern root-knot nematodes (races 1 & 3 only) and is susceptible to tobacco mosaic virus. NC 37NF produces moderate yields of leaf with a very high grade index. It is a relatively low-growing variety but for best quality should be topped when about 18 harvestable leaves are present. NC 37NF produces a higher than average number of ground suckers.
