FloRun™ ‘725’ was released by the University of Florida, Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences, North Florida Research and Education Center (NFREC) in Marianna, Florida. It is a new medium maturity, high oleic runner type peanut. FloRun™ ‘725 is a high yielding, disease resistant peanut variety. FloRun™ ‘725’ combines the highest levels of resistance to tomato spotted wilt virus (TSWV) and good tolerance to leaf spot and white mold. Additionally, it has demonstrated excellent pod yield and grades. Unique among current peanut varieties is its very high level of resistance to TSWV, which comes from a new source of resistant germplasm. Additionally, FloRun™ ‘725’ has shown good tolerance to two other major peanut diseases, late leaf spot and white mold. FloRun™ ‘725’ has a medium to small runner seed size with a tan, smooth seed coat. FloRun™ ‘725’ has a medium sized plant with a dense prostrate growth habit. FloRun™ ‘725’ has an alternate branching lower pattern with rounded leaflets with a light green leaf intensity color. FloRun™ ‘725’ is covered by utility patents on high oleic oil chemistry. Only licensed producers may sell this variety for seed and no farmer saved seed is allowed. US Variety Protection applied for and seed can only be sold as a Class of Certified Seed. Variants may include seeds that are normal oleic and/or pods that arc larger or smaller than the original on average less than 0.1%.
