BOMASTER switchgrass was cooperatively developed as a cultivar by the USDA- Agricultural Research Service and the North Carolina State University, Raleigh, NC and released on 1st of November, 2006. BoMaster is adapted to the Southeastern U.S. and has potential as a forage or biomass crop. BoMaster is an eight-clone synthetic which was selected for its high biomass and high cell-wall production.

COLONY switchgrass was developed as an improved cultivar for biomass purposes. It incorporates the indigenous germplasm that occurs across the Southeast, has acceptable dry matter production but with improved cellulose concentrations. Two cycles of recurrent selection were used to produce this cultivar. It originated from 11 different germplasm sources of the lowland form of switchgrass.

PERFORMER switchgrass was cooperatively developed as a cultivar by the USDA- Agricultural Research Service and the North Carolina Agricultural Research Service, North Carolina State University, Raleigh, NC and released on 1st of November, 2006. Performer is adapted to the Southeastern U.S. and was selected for its improved IVDMD. Performer is an eight-clone synthetic which is superior over other synthetics for both IVDMD and lignin concentrations.
